Our History

The British government, in 1870, introduced to the islands of the Bahamas a network of mailboat services for the delivery of maritime cargo and surface mail. Since this introduction, the transport of mail, livestock and produce throughout the Bahamas remained the sole responsibility of this essential industry. To date, 19 individual companies are dedicated to guarantee that this aspect of the Bahamian livelihood remains as routine as the raising of the sun and its coverage of the entire archipelago.
